Keith “Dr Prana” Fondren is a multi-talented musician, composer, and fine artist from Panola County, Mississippi. A masterful bass player, Dr. Prana plays and writes music across all genres, including jazz, rock, r+b, pop, classical, fusion, techno, and blues.  He played with the group Nature’s Divine, where he helped write the hit song “I Just Can’t Control Myself.”  Currently, Prana writes and plays bass in the eclectic jazz and fusion group the Bill Perry Trio, who released their dynamic debut album Beyond the Darkness in 2011. This January, Prana opened for jazz singer Cassandra Wilson at New York’s BB King Blues Hall in a collaboration of top Mississippi musicians.  He has recently recorded a new solo album, No Appointment Necessary, and is planning to record a new collaborative album with rising vocalist Tawanna Shaunte.
Fondren lives on his grandfather’s quiet, 52 acre farm in north Mississippi, where he farms, meditates, writes music and paints. His extraordinary, one of a kind paintings provide a peek into the mind of Dr. Prana, which reveals knowledge of the divine, past reincarnations, and an open third eye.  As Prana likes to say, “Remember we’re not living day by day, hour by hour, or minute by minute, we’re living breath by breath. Your next breath could be your last so don’t waste it, be in the now.”
